Promoting Local Ingredients for a Healthier Future — 2024

1. Organizing Local Production and Sustainability Knowledge Exchange and Dissemination Activities

• As part of the 2024 Academic Year (School Year 113) professional development program for elementary and junior high school teachers in Taitung County, local production and sustainability knowledge was shared. Registered Dietitian Ya-Ping Chang delivered an online seminar entitled "Principles of Sustainable Living and Sports Nutrition", introducing sustainable nutrition concepts to local food service personnel. A total of 80 participants attended the session.

• On March 17, 19, and 25, 2025, promotional sessions were conducted during Learning Science class meetings in the Department of Counseling and Applied Psychology to encourage the prioritization of locally produced food ingredients in order to reduce carbon footprints. A total of 50 participants attended these sessions. In addition, on August 30, 2025, an off-campus lecture on Food Labeling and Food Additives was delivered at the University of Taipei, with 19 participants in attendance.

2.Promoting the Procurement of Locally Produced and Sustainably Sourced Foods In accordance with the procurement contracts administered by the University's Office of General Affairs, priority is given to purchasing locally produced or sustainably sourced food products. The University also promotes the selection of locally produced ingredients to help reduce carbon footprints.

• In 2024, two promotional events were organized: a Sustainable Nutrition Education seminar presented by Standard Foods Corporation, and a Sustainable Local Food and LOHAS Lifestyle lecture sponsored by Yuanta Securities. These online events attracted a total of 60 participants.

• In 2025, two additional promotional events were held: a Sustainable Nutrition Education seminar presented by Standard Foods Corporation, and a Sustainable Local Food and LOHAS Lifestyle lecture conducted by National Taiwan University. The combined in-person and online attendance reached 78 participants.
